Booked in for an initial 4 night stay but the facilities were that good that we decided to stay another 2. Hadn't been camping for years but staff were friendly. the amenities top notch and the site was extremely clean and tidy. There is nothing negative that I could say. Top notch, first rate, excellent! See you next year folks!

I arrived with my three grandchildren for 3 nights, then booked another two,as this site was lovely, the husband wife and daughters whom were running the camping reception were so helpfull and happy, grandsons loved the ball park area especially,i camped in family field and found this a relaxing break,no pages and pages of do s and donts, just the clear rules on entry, how camping sites should be,this day and age too many of the larger caravan/camp sites are so unwelcoming with staff that are more like enforcement officers, one sighn of that extra windbreaker and your out !!....so hats of to herston you will be seeing us again ............wish i found you years earlier

We would just like to say, my Husband and i bought a touring caravan to enable us to take our dogs with us on holiday, this was the first camp site we wanted to try and were not disapointed, they campsite was fantastic, the reception lady was very helpful to my husband, the other staff in the little shop, restaurant and bar all made you feel very welcome.
we had some great walks with our dogs up to Harry's rock which was a great walk up lots and lots of stairs and hills, the beach at Swanage was lovely.
We stayed for 4 days and could not fault it at all, we will certainly be back. Keep up the good work !!!

We have just returned from a 5 day trip to Herston Camp site, an electric hook up pitch on the first field. Judging by some of the reviews, we were expecting bad things, but how wrong we were. Had a great pitch, fantastic location, only 5 mins to Herston Halt across the fields ( discounted tickets are £2 Adult, £1 child return to Swanage from the on site shop which is great value ), main toilet block is absolutely fine, regularly cleaned in fact I often spoke to the cleaning lady, hot showers etc - ok so you have to walk 2 mins from the tent fields ( big deal !! ), the small temporary blocks in the tent field are not good I agree, but they are being revamped next year. Noise at night - very little, bar & restaurant
- very good choice and good value with a nice conservatory / dining area & Wifi, Shop open 8.30am -2pm then 4pm to 10pm, basic needs fine, Staff couldn't have been more helpful & friendly, in fact our arrival greeting was excellent. We have stayed on
a lot of sites, and in our opinion, this is possibly one of the best in the area, for location, amenities, friendliness & price - won't hesitate in going back.

Just got home after 3 weeks here and have to say we had the best time ever-was a bit sceptical at first because we had read conflicting reviews about the site, but i can tell you they are lies!
from the moment my wife, daughter and i arrived we were made to feel at home by the camping manager ronnie and his lovely wife.He informed us of everything we needed to know from what time the lights went on in the loos to where the nearset fire points were and what time the shop opened!they even offered to run my wife to town to get some shopping when we misplaced our car keys!hows that for customer service!!
The site also has security guards that patrol the grounds till early hours ensuring that fire rules are met and that noise is kept to a minimum and are happy to assist with anything you need-well done fellas!.
The toilets were cleaned regularly and had plenty of loo roll considering we had some heavy rain on occasions the cleaning team done very well!
The camping fields were very well maintained, grass was cut and strimmed while we were there an there were plenty of big bins for all of the rubbish.
There is a lovely bar as well where the staff were very friendly,a small restaurant with nice food, and a showbar with regular entertainment, and an enclosed play area for young kids ideal if you want a drink in the bar knowing they are safe playing outside.
there is also a launderette and a shop and the main shower block which again was clean and had hot water considering the hundreds of people using them.
We shall most definatley coming back bringing family and friends and have no problem recommending the site 100%.
10/10 thanks for making our stay so welcoming.

The campsite met all the requirements for a very successful and enjoyable first family camping trip. The staff were very kind and helpful and dealt with any queries or issues very efficiently. The weather without doubt added to the enjoyement of the trip. Whilst the campsite was busy, noise or anti-social behaviour was never an issue and we were more than comfortable to allow are three children to roam around and enjoy the fresh air.
The site is located with easy access to the local beaches and all the attractions of this beautiful part of Dorset. I recommend Kimmeridge Bay for rock pooling, and Lulworth Cove for its beauty. I would have no hesitation in recommending Herston Campsite to any families looking for a good family-friendly campsite.

I just stayed at Herston for 5 nights. I have had the most amazing fun time, everything was clean and beautifull. Got fed up with camping in my tent and the wonderful Liz and Lou sorted us out a static caravan straight away.
Went to the Royal wedding street party had the best fun, food was amazing.
I want to thank JC the chef, nothing was too much trouble for him and Graham and Pat for organizing the wedding celebration as she done a fantastic job.
Shower blocks were always clean with plenty of hot water.
I just want to say thank you to everyone for a great weekend.
Will be back for a month in August as we had so much fun.
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT HERE!!

We were shown to our pitch by the lovely girl at reception, all perfect. Showers and toilets all clean and well maintained. The staff in the bar and restaurant very friendly and willing to please as with the staff on the site in general. Good, child friendly atmosphere.
There's great walks all around the area, much loved by our dog :-) and just a short walk to Swanage town and it's lovely beach. Easy public transport links to Studland beach, also much loved by the dog!, and to Corfe Castle.
Only downside really was the rain on our second day but that's to be expected camping in March!! Spent a pleasant afternoon playing cards and a few beverages in the bar area and the rain thankfully cleared by the evening.
Wil definitely be coming again, hopefully for a taste of the town's famous blues festival, and suspect we will be staying at Herston on a regular basis

My family and I went to the farmhouse on this site for Christmas - 6 adults, 3 children. The farmouse was beautfiully decorated, warm, cosy and clean - the perfect place to spend Christmas. The beds were really comfy and the kitchen was well equipped - we cooked a full christmas dinner and it was lovely - even though I say so myself !
The jacuzzi was a great touch - cold outside but warm in the tub and it was treated every day but the staff. All the bar staff and team at the site were really friendly and helpful. I can imagine the farmhouse would be beautiful in the summer and perfect for a big family celebration as there is plenty of room and the gardens would be lovely.
Thank you for making it a lovely christmas and we hope to return next year.
